Phone Pics - the future of camera cell phone pictures

The cellular phone these days not only act as a telephone but even as a storage house of pictures and images that are downloaded or by phone pics taken using the built-in camera of the cell phone. Handsets in the market for medium and high end mobile phones integrate visual aspects of information processing, such as a picture, with the audio aspects of a regular telephone. The development of these types of cells have given rise for the user to see greater life like images with truer to life colors. This in turn has resulted in most people sending a pic or a graphic notation to convey messages than to give in an oral answer.

While viewing the camera phone pics on the cell phone, the pictures may seem slightly distorted in terms of color. This occurs due to the fact that to cater to higher color definitions and resolution, the display panels used in these cells are LCD displays and unfortunately, these panels reflect light. The resolution and pixel density of a pic on these camera phones varies, with a few on the high end range reaching a megapixels. Again here, what determines the quantum of pics that can be stored onto the cells are the resolution of the picture and the quantum of memory space available on the cellular phones.

With regards to research to improve cells, it’s running parallel to the research for that of personal computers. However, a big question mark till date is how to limit the increase in the size of the file when the resolution of the picture increases. This is serious as the speed and efficiency of the handset reduces drastically on approaching the maximum capacity of the memory available.

As a way round the issue of mobile phones being used to send pictures, it’s seen that the etiquette use of the mobile by the user has to be improved. It will be good to see the mobile get back to being used as a telephone with the camera acting as a backup tool for expressing thoughts.
