The Nextel text messaging services offers a far greater and powerful messaging system than most other phones. The technology in the phone enables multiple alphanumeric character messages to be sent directly to the Nextel Phone.

The Nextel phone has the ability to write and receive an email without hooking up onto the Internet. In effect, it’s a wireless email. What’s more, the Nextel communication technology enables messages to be sent to a unit that is turned off as well, storing it for a maximum number of seven days after which it will be deleted.

Messaging is also easy to do from the handset keypad. All types of characters can be displayed on the screen and the capacity of the unit to store unread messages when in the off mode is 280 characters.

Nowadays, besides text messages, graphical ones can be sent as well. Known as MMS, such a wireless transmission of information is catching on amongst the users who prefer to punch in less characters to get a point across. In this type of wireless communication, for speed as well as time required, people prefer to use less number of text and character in all the email and calls, a common one being “CU later.”
