The next time a tele-marketer from a service provider or a cell phone carrier calls up, and they usually do so at nights, to try and convince you to go in for one of their well packaged cheap long distance plans, think twice before you say yes to their barrage of free offers. You can start by probably asking them why the provider calls up usually at nights.

The long distance carriers offer a multitude of cell phone packages that offer either a bulk amount of free air time or rates that are cheap on comparison with other plans. The only way to verify this is by insisting the provider provides you with a detailed estimate based on your usage habits.

One point to be mentioned here is that usually, not always, a carrier that has its own infrastructure and a vast tie up nationally and internationally with other well established carriers would be in a position to not offer one of the cheapest packages but also a load of free things to be given away as well as crispy clear signal transmissions. Most long distance service providers offer their cheapest rates at night. This would not make much sense to one who uses the phone maximum during the day.

For those who have a habit of picking up pre-paid items, there are a few carriers who offer a good saving on these long distance calls by selling out such cards to customers.

Recently, to make these long distance calls cheap, there are a handful of carriers who are introducing cheap options via the VOIP method. Amazingly, such a system provides a carrier the ability to charge its customers at a rate of 90% less than the standard package that a service provider would charge.
