June 18, 2005 By: David Anthony Cell Phone Tracking – Motorola Partnership Leads The Way
Motorola – a global leader in car cell phone technologies is working collaboratively with car manufacturers around the world to develop car cell phones with cell phone tracking that integrate seamlessly into a driver’s automobile experience. By partnering with major car manufacturers Motorola is ensuring the security of its brand, and sales of its product, by offering hands free GPS phones as a safe alternative, whilst all the while ensuring safe driving into the future. New Technology – Changing The Way You DriveThis new cell phone and GPS technology known as Driver Advocate is designed to reduce driver distraction and encourage responsible driving. This in-built, onboard cell phone is an excellent navigation system and includes GPS software that is completely invisible and seamless to the driver, but allows the driver to communicate with their wireless cell phone and find where they are going effectively without putting themselves or other drivers at risk. There are several ways that the cell phone and GPS software can be integrated into the vehicle. One way is through a three button mechanism on the steering wheel column where each button is dedicated to a particular task. One button is used for wireless communication information; the second button provides navigation data and the third button provides information on the surrounding conditions and conditions within the car. The cell phone and GPS functionality is fully integrated into the wheel in this example, and allows the driver to opt to take the call, make a call, dictate information or retrieve information. Information can also be presented and prioritized in terms of importance so the driver can then choose what to do and when to take a call at the touch of a steering wheel button. Motorola continues to develop emerging cell phone and GPS technologies that enable a vehicle, a cell phone and other components of the car to communicate to each another intelligently. This is great news for consumers. Motorola’s Driver Advocate cell phone and GPS software will be available in 2006.
