Everything needs a fuel source to run and a cell phone has got a compact sized battery that acts as its fuel. These batteries nowadays are usually Lithium-ion based and can be recharged for a standard number of times, usually 1000 times. Studies have shown that these batteries should be kept for charging when the power of each recharge is just about to reach zero capacity. The cell phone chargers are dependant on the cell phone brand and there are some cell phone manufacturers who do and do not make chargers common for all their cell phone models. A charger of one brand of cellular handsets cannot be used on another brand as the technical specifications, such as current, voltage, etc do not match. Doing so forcibly can end up in the phones being damaged permanently. Also, cell phone manufacturers have recommended purchasing phone chargers from reputed OEMs and not the cheaper imitations. Primarily as these firms have no quality checks on their products and common faults with these firms are that the voltage and current output of the chargers are not tallying with the printed information. This results in the lives of the batteries in the cells falling drastically. The cellular phones draw most power when in the talk mode and least when in the standby mode. Hence, for the heavy users of cell phones, it is recommended to purchase cells that have a longer talk time. Waiting for the phone to recharge at critical times when on the move will eventually prove to be costly. Mobile chargers charge the cells by first converting AC power into DC power and then the DC power goes to charging the batteries. Due to this step down effect, while charging cellular handsets, it’s recommended to keep the unit in a well ventilated area as lots of heat is produced in the charger as it charges the batteries. And too much heat reduces the battery life of the handset.
