“Cheese!” and hey presto, pics to last a life time have been clicked and stored; without waiting for the film to be exposed. Something unthinkable in the recent past is now a reality. Cells equipped with a camera are now seen at virtually every function to enable memories to be frozen in time. Unlike the early days, the camera phone pictures produced are of exceptional quality, depending on the specifications of the cell being used. Unlike carrying a separate camera around, either digital or analog, cell phone pictures can be taken by cells that are not an excess baggage, as they are built-in to the phone. Not to mention that a handy flash and picture enhancing technology are becoming the norm. Present day cell phones that come equipped with cameras have one major fault - the picture clarity when printed on a larger sized photo paper. Standard silver based photo film has a pixel capacity that runs into the millions, while these camera cell phones have, at the moment, a pixel capacity that runs into a quarter of a million only. Time can only tell when technology will develop to compress the file size to a manageable one as the number of pixels increases. To help fuel the growth of clicking these types of pictures is the internet. These cells are given a boost as companies such as HP offer to print and deliver pictures that have been downloaded or clicked from the mobile phones cum cameras. Certainly useful when wanting to immediately send over pictures to one’s parents of the birthday celebrations of their grandchild that has taken place some thousands of kilometers away. Depending on the video capture mode of the mobile phone cameras, pictures can be taken continuously and composed into a sequence of pics. People have found this to be very useful as precious funds and time are not wasted on taking pics that are actually a waste. Simply delete from memory what’s unnecessary and store any picture on the phones or personal computer.
