Bluetooth Cell Phones - The T-Flash - An Evolution In Bluetooth Phones

In 2004 Sony announced a revolution in memory storage for bluetooth cell phones. The SanDisk TransFlash otherwise known as the T-Flash is touted to be the world’s smallest portable and removable flash memory storage device for cell phones.

The T-Flash is quite similar to standard flash memory but the key difference is that it is able to be removed to allow use with other devices like cell phones. The T-Flash can be used only with new cell phones that are multimedia capable. These sorts of new cell phones typically offer video capture such as camera phones, MP3 players, video games, personal organizers, Multimedia Message Service, email and voicemail enabled. Offering Enhanced Capabilities To Cell Phones

Most flash cards on the market are about four times the size of the T-Flash device. The T-Flash allows cell phone manufacturers like Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Motorola to pack more memory capabilities into a single Motorola Internet cell phone unit with out the need for increasing the size of the phone.

The Motorola E1000 cell phone and the Motorola A1000 cell phone both take advantage of the 32Mb T-Flash device. Motorola makes claim to the fact that the T-Flash allows them to deliver continued cell phone functionality, with increased memory capacity, without any need to change the physical size of the phone itself.

The T-Flash device is quite similar in functionality to the SIM cards that are already used in cell phones. The key difference though is that SIM cards have limited memory storage and their ability to transfer data is quite slow. TransFlash offers cell phone manufacturers the flexibility to offer customized memory configurations for each cell phone, add in additional software programs for enhanced features and upgrade applications in a customized way for each cell phone model.
